CLC | Education and Training in Kitkatla

The Gitxaala Nation Continuous Learning Centre (CLC) has an immediate opening for a permanent and full-time Manager, Education and Training. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management, oversight, evaluation and delivery of the continuing education courses and programs offered at the CLC in Kitkatla. In addition, the Manager will provide a range of educational, employment, and counselling services including teaching and offering client support and referral services as required.

Duties and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Manage program and service operations offered through the CLC in Kitkatla.
  • Research academic and training programs including program design, cost, and program requirements.
  • Apply learning principles to the educational design and integration of cultural and innovative teaching practice and program delivery and evaluation.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships within and external to the Nation including industry partners, service providers, educational institutions, and Government agencies.
  • Develop public engagement and communication materials.
  • Plan for, manage and supervise infrastructure assets.
  • Oversee recruitment, employee training and development for CLC staff.
  • Recommend policy and process changes to improve satisfaction, learner and engagement outcomes.
  • Manage projects (including multi-year) secured through government and other funding.
  • Prepare and report to community on CLC activities.
  • Provide a safe work environment for office and all training sites.
  • Perform other tasks within the scope of the position.

Education, Experience and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Education; Teaching certification or Provincial Instructor Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience in teaching and/or facilitating programs for youth and adults. • Demonstrated ability to integrate Indigenous cultural principles and protocols into service delivery.
  • Knowledge of OH &S and Accessibility regulations considered an asset.
  • Valid BC driver’s license or in the process of getting one.
  • Personable and be able to deal with a variety of people comfortably and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to make decisions in accordance with legislation, Policy, and Procedures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to effectively learn new knowledge and skills. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and emails.
  • Experience working in a First Nations environment considered an asset.
  • Provide a current Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, benefits include vacation, RRSP, health, dental and vision.
